The candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for Awka South II State Constituency, Sam Chuks Okpanduka, has emphasized that the development of Obizi remains a shared responsibility, insisting that the people have no other heritage than the constituency they collectively call home.
Okpanduka made the remarks on Sunday while receiving a delegation of stakeholders drawn from different political parties and communities across the constituency who paid him a courtesy visit in Umuawulu. The gathering, which brought together prominent figures and grassroots leaders, provided an opportunity for discussions on the future of Awka South II and the need for unity in pursuing sustainable development.
Addressing the visitors, the NDC flagbearer stressed that meaningful progress in Obizi can only be achieved through collective efforts and a common vision among the people.
“The future of Obizi depends on our collective responsibility to develop it, for this community remains our only heritage. We owe ourselves and generations yet unborn the duty of building a constituency that guarantees opportunities, prosperity, and sustainable growth,” Okpanduka stated.
The Anambra State House hopeful expressed confidence in his ability to provide quality representation, citing his leadership experience as a successful entrepreneur and his longstanding engagements with local and international development partners. According to him, these experiences, combined with the strategic role of the State House of Assembly, would enable him to champion policies and programmes capable of transforming the constituency and improving the welfare of the people.
Okpanduka noted that his aspiration is driven by a desire to deploy legislative advocacy and strategic partnerships to attract development to Awka South II, adding that effective representation must go beyond lawmaking to include facilitating projects and empowering constituents.
He further emphasized the need for the six communities that make up Obizi to see themselves as one indivisible bloc united by common aspirations and bound together by shared interests. He maintained that development should not be selective but must be pursued simultaneously across all communities through deliberate advocacy, equitable distribution of opportunities, and people-oriented initiatives.
According to him, unity among the people remains the strongest foundation upon which lasting development can be built.
The NDC standard bearer reiterated his commitment to promoting quality education, improved healthcare delivery, youth and women empowerment, agricultural development, and infrastructure expansion, assuring constituents that inclusive representation would remain the hallmark of his service if elected into the Anambra State House of Assembly.
He called on stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation, to place the interest of Obizi above partisan considerations and work together towards building a more prosperous and united constituency.
The visit underscored the growing momentum behind Okpanduka’s campaign and highlighted increasing calls for collaboration and cohesion among the people of Awka South II as preparations for the forthcoming elections gather pace.
