The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Anambra State Office, has honoured 20 deserving staff members with Meritorious Awards in recognition of their outstanding commitment, diligence, and contributions to the Commission’s operations.
The awards were presented during a special ceremony held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Anambra State, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, supported by the Administrative Secretary, Mr. Kenneth Obianyi, and members of the management team on behalf of the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN.
According to a statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer of INEC Anambra State, Lechukwu Ugonma, the recognition was in fulfilment of a promise made by the Commission’s Chairman during his visit and interactive session with staff ahead of the November 8, 2025 Anambra State Governorship Off-Cycle Election, where he pledged to reward outstanding performance among staff members.
The beneficiaries comprised five Electoral Officers (EOs) and fifteen Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) selected from the three senatorial districts of Anambra State for demonstrating exceptional dedication, professionalism, and commitment to duty.
Speaking during the event, INEC management commended the awardees for their remarkable service and contributions to the success of the Commission’s activities in the state, noting that the recognition was intended to encourage excellence and inspire greater productivity among staff.
The management and staff of INEC Anambra State expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman of the Commission and his leadership team for the initiative, describing it as a morale-boosting gesture that underscores the Commission’s commitment to rewarding hard work and excellence.
They also reaffirmed their determination to continue discharging their electoral responsibilities with integrity, diligence, professionalism, and unwavering dedication in line with INEC’s mandate of deepening democracy and ensuring credible elections across the country.
