As the revered monarch hails her selfless service
By Tony Ezike

A powerful royal endorsement of selfless service and community development has taken centre stage as the revered traditional ruler of the ancient Igbo-Ukwu Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Igwe Alexander Ejikemeuwa Azike, Idu III of Igbo-Ukwu, bestowed his royal blessing on Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON.
The memorable encounter unfolded on Thursday when the respected monarch paid a courtesy visit to Senator Ekwunife at the Senator Uche Ekwunife Event Centre, Awka, in a gesture that underscored the enduring value of service, goodwill and commitment to community development.
In a stirring tribute, the royal father celebrated Ekwunife’s remarkable spirit of selfless service, highlighting her numerous interventions in Igbo-Ukwu, including the construction of access roads, hospital, classroom blocks, solar-powered streetlights, scholarships, among other livelihood support initiatives, despite the fact that she has never represented the community in the National Assembly.
The monarch’s commendation reinforced a powerful message: genuine service transcends political boundaries, while a sincere commitment to the people’s welfare leaves a lasting legacy.
Offering prayers for extraordinary divine favour upon the Senator, Igwe Azike expressed confidence in the power of God to reward those who deliberately invest in human capital development and the progress of their communities.
The royal blessing comes at a significant moment for Ekwunife, who is the APC candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District in the January 2027 election.
Visibly appreciative of the monarch’s visit, Senator Ekwunife expressed profound gratitude to the royal father for honouring her with his presence and unprecedented royal endorsement despite his demanding schedule.
She reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to community development and assured the monarch of her determination to do even more whenever the opportunity presents itself.
In a heartfelt response, Ekwunife also prayed for the monarch’s long life, sound health, greater wisdom and continued success in steering the affairs of the ancient Igbo-Ukwu Kingdom.
In her capacity as cabinet member, the renowned Senator described community development as a collective responsibility, stressing the importance of cooperation, visionary leadership and sustained commitment to the people’s well-being.
Extending her prayers beyond Igbo-Ukwu, the Senator invoked God’s wisdom and guidance upon traditional rulers, religious leaders and political officeholders across the country, asking for the strength, foresight and discernment required to overcome the challenges of leadership and deliver exceptional results.
The encounter was a powerful reminder that service speaks, goodwill endures, and the blessings of respected traditional institutions remain a cherished source of encouragement for those committed to the genuine advancement of their people.
