Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi, a Member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Anoacha One Constituency under the Labour Party, has launched the distribution of free eye-glasses to 10,000 residents in her constituency. This initiative is in collaboration with her NGO, the Nkechi Ogbuefi Charity Empowerment Initiative.
During the flag-off ceremony held at Agulu Civic Centre, Anoacha Local Government Area, Hon. Ogbuefi highlighted that the distribution will cover the four communities of Agulu, Adazi-Ani, Adazi-Enu, and Adazi-Nnukwu, which make up the constituency.
In addition to providing free eye-glasses, the beneficiaries will receive comprehensive eye care services, such as free consultations, eye pressure checks, visual acuity tests, cataract surgery, and blood pressure checks, among others.
Hon. Ogbuefi, who also serves as the Deputy Minority Whip in the House, emphasized that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from the four communities without any political motives.
She explained that her NGO has been offering these services free of charge for over ten years, long before her election to the Assembly in 2023. Her commitment to fulfilling her campaign promises ensures that every constituent will experience the benefits of democracy under her legislative leadership.
She reassured the people of Anoacha One that their support for her and the Labour Party will be rewarded, noting that the free eye-glasses and other health services will continue throughout her four-year term. She urged the beneficiaries to keep her in their prayers and encouraged those who have not yet benefited to be patient, as the initiative will reach everyone in due course.
Dr. Nweze Agajelu, a Labour Party stakeholder, commended Hon. Ogbuefi for her dedication to improving people’s health, especially in providing for the most vulnerable.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, describing her as a “gentlewoman” who has consistently worked for the well-being of her constituents, and pledged their continued support for her re-election to continue the good work for Anoacha One Constituency.
Additionally, Hon. Ogbuefi is giving attention to other sectors of human endeavor, ensuring that her legislative efforts benefit diverse aspects of the lives of her constituents.
